Coming to Carson City.... Upland Hunters?
Hey all. I'm coming to CC to do a job for the next three weeks (I live in AZ) and really don't want to miss out on my bird hunting. I will be picking up a non-resident license and all stamps needed to finish out the season, and would really love to chase some birds while I'm there. Are there any bird hunters that would like some company on an outing? Any places good to find birds? I was reading the NDOW site and saw some stuff on non-toxic shot. I'm assuming they mean lead, so would I be safer to just get the steel shot in case I have to head out by myself?
Here in AZ me and my hunting buddy generally just head out into the desert and find tree lined dry river beds, rolling terrain with cover, water tanks, etc. and have pretty good success. We also do a lot of "jump hunting" (driving the back roads and stumble across coveys). Don't care about bird dogs because half the fun is exploring the areas and getting out and walking around. I have the truck and will do the driving if anyone would like to have some company.
TIA
