Looking to get out of town next weekend and heard an add for the show.

Worth a look or a waste of time?

Alot of us locals will say its a waste of time, but I thinks its because we go to all the shows and they are pretty much the same every time.

But, I still go and browse ....lol. If you dont frequent shows, its a nice one. About 2/3 western cowboy stuff ......1/3 eh..."arfcom stuff??" maybe?....still alot

Go and have some fun !

The problem with the Reno show is that it is mostly the same collectors there to show off their stuff and buy more stuff.

There aren't too many vendors actually interested in selling stuff. If an old collector is selling out, the other collector/vendors buy all of the good stuff before the show even opens.

That has been my take on it over the past 25 years or so.

There are worse ways to spend an afternoon than looking at guns.

That's precisely what happens. The only real opportunities are when an attendee strolls in with a rare bird and they get set upon by the table hawkers with "Whatcha got there?! You sellin' it?!".

General rule of thumb is that everything they are selling is rare and awesome and worth every penny, and what you're carrying is common crap they've seen five times today already. It's sort of like Gunbroker.com: The most common adjective on that site is 'RARE'.

On the other hand, every once in awhile I see something on a table that by some miracle hasn't been snatched up yet: Like the Valmet 62 in 7.62x39 that went for $1200 before I could nab it, and a PE57 that sold for $2000.

Going to the big city is always fun. Show is decent and Miwall will have their ammo setup if you need a refill. Also pretty cool to walk around a casino and see 20% of the patrons carrying some firearms related item!

You could always go to the show Friday and them come shoot 3gun/USPSA on Saturday/Sunday

We will actually be having a table at the Big Reno Show for the first time this weekend so I encourage everyone to stop by and say hello. We will have a dark red table cloth on our table.

I have gone to this show as an attendee numerous times in the past and my experience follows right along with what is described above. It is definitely fun to look and I have picked up some decent deals on accessories and ammo in the past.

Being on the other side of the table is a whole different experience altogether. We did our first Crossroads show in February that went very well and we just about sold out of everything we brought. I am hoping this weekend will be just as good.

Hopefully, we will see you this weekend.

I guess I'm jaded.

I compare everything to the Great Western shows in Pomona CA back in the day.

It would take 8 hrs just to walk by all of the tables.

If you actually stopped to look at what was on the tables, you would never see the entire show in one day. It took me a few shows and ditching "the old folks" before I made it through the entire show. The best part of that show was all of the oddball people with the oddball stuff stuff they would bring to sell. No matter what your interest, you were bound to stroll by something rare or unusual to see or even buy.

Now I am one of "the old folks" and the show is no more.

Ammo is the main reason I go to either show (Big Reno or Crossdresser of the West). I will stop by Rigamarole's table since he had some amazing deals at the Crossroads show!

If you need small parts to complete a build, it is a good place to go.

AR accessory stuff and optics are typically Chinese crap or over-priced. Mag deals can be found on the first day or early on Saturday.

I have a feeling there will be some price gougers with the availability of parts being less than ideal in fear of November.

Every now and then you can find some decent guns at fair prices, but be ready to haggle otherwise.

When DPMS used to come to this show, you could get some smoking deals on their uppers. They haven't been there since our current President took office.

Worth a trip if you have a specific gun or part that you have been looking at, or if you need to stock up on ammo/mags.

Thanks for the nice comment. We have to offer good deals since we are not in this game as a "collector" that sits around not selling anything all weekend. We price things to move so that we can cover our costs and invest in more inventory.

Once again, please stop by and say hi this weekend!

There are a lot of dark red table cloths. Which one is yours? What number are you?

Hope we didn't miss you. We are space 90-99 in section 90. That is pretty much far left and a third of the way back as you head in.

We are the only ones selling New Frontier Armory LW-15 lowers at the show as far as I know.

Hope to see some of you Saturday or Sunday.

So, how was the gun show everyone? I didn't get a chance to make it over there this year with Easter family-festivities trumping my gun show wants

My buddy went by the GSR Saturday and said the line to get in was so long he ended up just leaving. I guess the panic is back in full swing.

He must have gotten there early. I got there about noon or so on Saturday and there was no line to get in at all. The halls were busy, but not overly packed like I had expected. Most of the dealers with AR type parts and the ammo vendors were pretty busy, but nothing near what it was in Nov 08. I guess the real panic hasn't set in yet.

I was happy to be able to get the stuff I came up for plus a couple of things I just couldn't live without.

I always look forward to the shows. There's something about being able to walk around two large halls of firearms and accessories that just reminds me of the freedoms we still have.

Don't show up before it opens, or even 30 minutes after. There's no reason to stand in line to get in to the Big Reno or the Crossroads show. The deals are barely good enough to show up, much less show up early.
