 Got a CORVETTE!

Ok...so it's not mine, my roommate/bff bought it but who cares. It's a 1976 Corvette Stingray that has a perfect body but needs paint and interior done which is exactly what we were looking for since its going to be customized with purple metallic paint and purple/cream interior. The engine and transmission work great but have some minor leaks and stuff, all easily fixable. The previous owner had upgraded the rearend and spent a bit doing it which is a big plus. She's being delivered Wednesday and soon after will be delivered to a Corvette shop to start the customization/restoration. She's gonna be a head turner and tire burner when done

I've had multiple Corvettes for years! ...What? Hotwheels don't count? Since when?!

Grats to you and your roommate/bff. Just don't let LARman drive it. He'll get it stuck in the mud and Dan will have to tow it out. :P

Wanna race for pinks? I'll only use 2 wheels.

I restored both a 76 and a 77 probably 10 years ago. Still got a few parts and pieces laying around. Never again though. Got tired of paying the "vette tax". Had plenty of other ones too. Last one being an 02. Got too hard to get into and out of for a broken down, fat old man

ETA- The vacuum system that operates the headlight opening and closing was invented by a drunken chinaman. That system is a serious pain.

Sure no problem, we will be running 30 laps at Hallett in the counter-clockwise direction.

Awesome...the headlights on this one are wonky (won't work). Maybe I can find a drunk Chinese guy to help us fix them.

Good luck running down the 87 miles of vacuum lines, looking for leaks. Oh and the vacuum "pots"

I think we are going to pass that repair on to the Corvette repair shop. Unless I can find a Chinese guy that I can get drunk before then.

i had more trouble with the funky door handles, the noisy, leaky t-tops,and the floor so hot i couldn't stand it.
but i'm sure it's much better now.
boats, dune buggies, and corvettes.
the happiest days are the day you buy 'em,and the day you sell 'em.
you're in for a ride, grab it and hang on.

A purple 'vette eh?

So what's it going to be, Prince or Barney?

Congrats! Sounds like fun.

She's going into the shop tomorrow to start her restoration. They are going to do the basics first like adjust the new rearend, put in the new high performance shocks and springs that came with it, fix any fluid leaks, fix the headlights, seatbelts, seats...basically everything that needs done to put her back in perfect running condition. After all that's done we will start the process of replacing weather stripping and interior stuff that precedes the paint and custom interior. I think it will be at least a three year timeframe for completion.
