"Good" gun show.
i think most of us agree what a bad show is, but what constitutes a good one to you?
i've been to local shows in Ada, Shawnee, and Super Dave's last weekend.
while they (the shows) were interesting, i didn't buy a thing.
Wannamcher's is bordering on just too much, while the "big 4" okc promoters have the same items you see every weekend, literally.
admission needs to be reasonable, and it can't just be "all things hotdog likes" or it'd never be back.
oh., and i'm not one for benchracing, gabbing, shooting the bull, etc.
Super Dave's show got rave reviews, but to me it was just ...meh, its a show, now lets go.
i'm going to his Shawnee show, and Badshots as well just for support, but what makes a show a good one to you?
I honestly don't think I have been to a good show to know what one was. I have never found any great deals on guns I couldn't live without in fact most of the time has been the opposite with the gun I'm looking for being way overpriced. I think the first step to having a good show is admission price should be reasonable. Second should be only firearms and related items. After that really not sure, prices are up to the vendors and I have never had any luck negotiating prices.
the last really good show in the metro I attended that I can think of was the big show that used to be held at the myriad.
I have been to a lot of shows here in OK, a few in TX, and a few in AR. The shows seem to be less interesting all the time. For me I love looking at old military firearms and what I do see are so over priced it makes me just keep walking. Ammo, almost impossible to find anything worth buying. Every now and then I get lucky finding stuff for AR but most of it can be bought other places. The best things I have found lately i knives and none of those have been a steal of a deal. The days of good OKC shows are long gone, the days of the Myriad shows will be no more, and lets face it the Internet has helped the buyer more than anything else.
OKC shows are really only good to go to once a year. Even then you see the same thing over and over.
If I want to go to a good show I hit Tulsa Wannemaker or Market Hall in Dallas.
Twice a year the Missour Valley Arms Collectors Association puts on a huge NRA affiliated show at the KCI Expo off of 29th. It is one of the best shows you'll ever go to. It's always guns and gun displays. It's in January and July and well worth your time and effort to go.

I have not been to a great show in 20 years except for the Tulsa arms show. These days its coins, leather belts, beanie babies and nascar crap. Guns usually are unrealistically priced , and I tend to go the last day because usually they want to deal a little on the last day to avoid having to take it home.
