Gander Mountain in Maple Grove closing ... nice deals
Still a few things left on the shelves, even at this late hour.
Still some jetboil stuff at 40% off and lots of tackle still out on display.
Scope rings and covers along with some odd sizes of shoes.
I picked up a jetboil 1.5L pot and a stabilizing stand for it. I could never justify the $60 + $15 for it, but, getting it for under $40 was not so painful.
Shotshells are still on the floor.
Guns are all moved out, though. (except some airsoft stuff)
Can you put "good deals" and "Gander Mountain" in the same sentence?
Cabelas wins again, eh?
Hopefully they'll learn people care about prices and good customer service and apply it to their other stores (not likely.)

Their store in Eden Prairie seems well run and I have not had a problem in either their guns or fishing isles.
But, I only go in that store like twice a year.
The store manage in Forest Lake did right by my sister when an tow behind water float had a defect. He drove up to our cabin and replaced it on 4th of July weekend. (this was a few years back)
Each store has been hit or miss depending on who is in charge.

Several years back, I swore I'd never go into that store again.
Now that they are closing, I may have to change my policy.

Wow glad to hear it. Excellent job FL GM!
The Eden Prairie store has got to be their best store in MN. The people there seem friendly and knowledgeable.
When they closed the store west of there on hwy 7 a few years back I came to the register with a shopping cart half full of ammo. The clerk called a manager and he photo copied my drivers license before he would let my buy that much ammo. This was back when ammo was a lot cheaper and they had it down to 40% off. I bought ammo for guns I still haven't bought. Sold a bunch to my dad also.
I only go into the GM here in Duluth when I need to fit scope caps or see a real deal. The folks in the gun department really don't know much at all.
If I can't get a firearm I want thru Superior Shooters Supply I'd rather drive to the Cabelas in Rogers vs deal with the GM here.
From what I had overheard from some discussions between regulars and the employees, the store has never been a very good producer, to the point if losing money it sounded like, and they have decided not to renew their lease after Feb.

After Cabela's opened in Rogers, I can believe it. It sucked the wind out of Sportsman's Warehouse.
It was no secret that they wanted a bigger space and to negotiate their lease.
In the end, its never good when a store like GM closes, but, time will tell.
On a related note ... rumor has it Cabela's is looking at a possible location up in Duluth!!! (after the 5 that are opening this year)

This is what I understand as well, to be honest, I'm surprised the MG store has lasted this long

Amen.
Ditto. DLH GM is a glorified K-Mart.
I went to the MG GM this weekend and spotted two 420 rd xm855 ammo cans. I checked the price since they were 20% off....
THEY WANTED $220?! That's still $176 + tax

. Cabelas has these at $150 right now, on sale from $180.

Even with % off, it is still high. GM is very suck especially how its ammos price are 2x higher. No wonder they are relocated.
Some good deals on bases and rings for hunting rifles and quite a bit of camping/ survival supplies
