Yesterday afternoon a few friends (husband, wife, and wife's uncle) came over to fish and do a little shooting. Melissa had NEVER shot an AR before. Her uncle had recently gotten out of the Marines after six years. I challenged the former Marine to a simple shot. Hit a milk jug at 130 yards. Three shots later he hit it 末 iron sights, sitting. Melissa decided to get in on it and her first shot EVER with an AR blew up the next jug. Three more shots, three more dead jugs. Damn! None left for me.
I've never seen a Marine belly-crawl away from a GIRL like that before.
Her first words after shooting were "I WANT ONE!"
She's camera shy, so I'll sneak a pic when she's not looking.

Good for her.
What a war face . . .
We're still working on keeping the finger off the trigger.
Well, she's learned the kill-shot. Hopefully the next class will be on hat orientation.
This girl is SOMETHING ELSE!
They came over again yesterday to shoot some clays and Melissa decided to try. She didn't remember shooting a shotgun before and had NEVER shot clays. We did a few dry-fire exercises to get the pump technique and sight alignment down and one shot at a soda bottle on the ground so she could see how bad the kick would be. First four throws 末 four dead birds. OK, they were dead-away shots, but still impressive. I probably should mention that Melissa stands about five-foot-nothing and she was using my Benelli Nova which fit her like CRAP! She proceeded to shoot 20 out of 25. Some away and some crossing.
The guys got cocky and started shooting doubles. You guessed it, her first try 末 two dead birds. We wouldn't let he shoot any more.

Just kidding. This lady is one DAMN GOOD natural shooter.
Now, if only she wasn't married and Iwasn't marrierd, and I was 35 years younger and ...
War face
