My cousin is getting married. Her fiancee is Mexican, but a damned good guy. As many of us know, and he told me himself, they bring friends.

We'd be doing mostly presence type stuff and access control. No invitation, no access.

Pay consists of free food.

Bilingual Spanish is a plus but not required.

Who wants to play?

Hopefully not. I'd like to have a patrol officer or two present if at all possible.

Why hasn't anyone asked the important questions yet? Ok, allow me.

What kind of food is it?

Have you talked to the Girls father about this?

If there really is concern, you two ought to talk to this guy and make an inpression on him that this is his daugter/your cousins ""Special Day" and he is not to bring any Vatos that will potentially be causing chit...

My BIL was a heavy drinker and was getting abusive, verbally and starting to ramp up to physcally...

The week before him and my sister got married, two of my long time friends and I went over to the BILs place and set the expectation that married or not, there was not going to be any further issues...

I told him I did not want to threaten him or cause trouble, but if he laid hands on my sister or got too outta hand with the words that I and or my boys were going too have another conversation with him that would not be so polite...

End the end, We shook hands and everything has be fairly cool since... Aside from him just being a tool....

He's only inviting his family and a few select close friends. They asked me to put together a security thing for them, to prevent the Vatos from getting in.

Wow, with that said, I would expect issues...

You guys might contact a few security companies to see what they would charge to provide their service...

Let them take the responsibility and potential civil or legal issues if someone has to react...

I'm sure you want to keep it on the cheap, but a few calls can't hurt to see what your lookin at...

Maybe contact the local PD and see what their take is...

+1. I'm not geared up for liability claims, I suggest leaving that to the paid professionals..

That was on my short list. I wanted to maybe have just one cruiser there if at all possible, as that would take care of 90% of the presence side. They don't have much money to spend for a professional outfit, and the crappy ones like Securitas are even too much.

If you know any local PD folks, check with them and see if they might have some free-ish time. I knew some Sheffis' Deputies near Chicago that'd make some extra bucks doing that sort of thing, but I doubt they'd travel this far.

I was hoping to catch a few here

I know we have at least ONE here in the MOHTF.

You get to get out for a few hours and you get some good food for nothing more than standing around. Seems like a great time to me, but I've accepted food for work far too many times
