fixed blade knives in GA w/ CHL...
FL CWP holer. Didn' t GA recently redo thier Carry permit making it good for OC or CC and also making it a permit to carry a knife, open or concealed, w/ a blade over 5".
Does this trump local laws (pre-emption) or can cities still make carrying a big bowie or whatever a crime if it is open or concealed?
I always carry at least one big fixed blade, albeit concealed.
Thx
I open carry large fixed blades and folders all the time. I have never been stopped or had a cross word said to me about it.

same here, I usually open carry my 5 1/2 inch kabar around all the time
when I say large, I mean 8-10" blade.
OCGA 16-11-125.1 (Definitions)
(2) "Knife" means a cutting instrument designed for the purpose of offense and defense consisting of a blade that is greater than five inches in length which is fastened to a handle.
So technically if your blade meets these requirements it will require a GWL or a GWL from a state with reciprocity.

I carry a Cold Steel Rajah 2 Is that big enough for ya ?
I have also known to leave the house wearing my CS Natchez Bowie
that is an interesting rig for you natchez. Sort of like a cavalry sabre belt and sling... Where did you get it/have it made? I see you have the laminate natchez. Can I buy the black leather sheath that came w/ the knife?
I conceal carry my natchez, but alas, I ground like 2" off it, making it into a scandi Saex shape. I carry it vertical to slightly canted, OWB either on or behind the hip. To increase concealment, I can securely elevate it higher up so the guard is above the waste line. Also, when I sit down, if the end of the sheath hits a chair or whatever, the whole thing can slide up not interfere w/ sitting. W/o the last 2" of blade, I can carry it w/ the guard at the waste band under a blazer. I am like 6'1"
POB is now 1/2"
Sort of a shame to do it, but it was only an SK5 version and I there was no better knife, either ready made or that could be reground that would be better. Wanted somehing w/ a broad heavy full flat grind blade w/ a good handle etc as an upgrade from lightweight stilettos. I recall James Keating saying that one benefit of a heavy knife is that it can be used to block trunchens, sticks etc, not to mention other heavy knives. Thought about buying a trail master maybe still too light. But hell, for $20 over the price of a TM I could just buy another nathez.
I can't get over how fantastic the hilt is. I might checker it though, but the shape and guard are great. I gotta send CS a fruit basket or something for bring so many knice knives to market, particuarly fighting knives.
Also, your natchez needs a vinegar patina. Jus put vasoline on the edge to protect it I guess. Where the vasoline was sorts of looks like a hammon line.

I stole the pic from the site I did not opt for the fancy leather and gator or snakeskin as shown. I got plain cowhide leather it is comfortable to wear and if you have a jacket on it is a suprise whaen you pull it out
Those guys where very easy to deal with and if I get another large fixed blade I will buy again.
You can also buy just the harness and adapt it to many knives like KaBar, SOG and cold steel to name a few it even works with kydex.
Oh, I see, that is a shoulder rig for carrying diagonal in back or in front. I did experiment w/ carrying it that way but it was just not concelable unless I stood completely still and completely erect. When I walked, the tip and the butt of the hilt would alternatively pop up. Technically it is concealed, whether or not it prints in FL, but I don't like unwanted attention. But you don't have to worry about that so much in GA.
I am not a fan of things hanging on my shoulders anyway and the knife is more accessible w/ both hands in more positions.
I bought it to use while hog hunting it is quick and easy to draw and stays out of the way when in the bush...
U use it maybe in case you need to stab a hog or as a field knife?
I feel like the tip may be just a little delicate for a field knife. But hell, how much does one really need to baton.
Let me know if you want to sell the original leather stud sheath.
