Hey I am turning 21 at the end of December and was wandering if I could go ahead and take the class and wait until I turn 21 to send off the papers, or if I have to be 21 when I take the class

I don't know. I do know the certificates expire after like 6 months. So make sure you time it right.

Best answer is to call Range USA or Range Master and ask.

Range USA = (901) 213-4774
Range Master = (901) 370-5600

Timing is everything! You may indeed do as you suggest.

If I remember correctly, when I took my class at Range USA a few years ago, there was a guy that took it with me that was in your situation. He was a couple months shy of 21 and they let him take the class and he just went and turned his paperwork in after his birthday. Regardless, when you do take the class, make sure you get it done at Range USA. It's a really informative class and they teach you a lot of the important stuff (not required) that a lot of other places leave out, not to mention they are a great group of people to deal with.

That may have been me, because i took the class three months before turning 21 and filed the paperwork on my birthbay.

What everyone has said, and another +1 for RangeUSA.

I was able to take the class at 20 years old so I could submit paperwork on my 21st birthday.

Not to Hi-jack your thread, but you seem to have the answer you seek. I'm gonna piggy back it. Has anyone renewed their permit lately? How long did it take?

I sent my renewal application off back in July (mailed in), and received the new permit about 3 to 4 weeks later.
