Possible relocate to Chattanooga...Please advise
Hey guys, I may be entertaining a job offer from Volkswagon in Chattanooga. Can anyone in that area give me any advice on working for them and living in the Chattanooga area? What areas to avoid if any? I'll probably be looking at apartments early on at least for the first year. Any info is appreciated.
I know a guy working for them. He likes it, but says they are running wide open 24/7. Hard work, but pays good for the area.
How close to work you want to live? Hixson is a good area and convenient drive to the plant, and would be my first choice of area to live. Lots of apartments in the area too. Harrison, Ooltewah, and Collegedale are all decent areas close to the plant, not sure about rental property though.
Actually, you might want to think about renting a trailer somewhere. Maybe you'd have less noise from your neighbor that way? Don't have to worry about your neighbor burning down the whole building because he's a dumbass, either.
Beautiful area there, enjoy it!
I live in Soddy Daisy which is North West of Chattanooga and outside of the Chattanooga city limits which saves me about $1000 dollars a year in taxes. Harrison, Ooltewah, and Collegedale are all nice areas that would be close to the plant. There are plenty of nice apartments in those areas. Only downside to that side of town is that it seems to be the area that always gets hit with tornados.
Stay away from East Ridge area (prone to flooding), Alton Park, Brainerd, and anything North of downtown but South of Missionary Ridge.
