We are relocating to the Chattanooga area early in May. Are there any areas I should stay from? I've got some family in the Sweetwater and Madisonville areas that I'm looking forward to seeing but other than a trip I took to Nashville last year I'm clueless about Chattanooga.

Thanks,

Jason

Good places to live in and around Chattanooga include; Signal Mountain, Ooltewah, Collegdale, Soddy Daisy, and Hixson. Really depends on where you are going to work, if you have kids, and whether you like City living or county living. What are you looking for?

I believe ill be working closer to town, I'm from a rural part of Az so I'd prefer the same. The commute distance doesn't really matter.
I've got two kids and ill be renting for a few months until I can financially afford to buy a home.
Thanks,

Jason

That rule is consistent with every city and town in the US.

If you have school age kids, then Soddy Dasiy, Ooltewah, and Collegedale would be good areas as they have decent schools. I live in Soddy Daisy and commute to downtown, takes 20-25 minutes depending on the traffic. I live in the county so I am saving money on taxes, roughly $1000 a year. The Ooltewah and Collegedale areas are real popular because of the new VW plant so house prices will reflect that. Since you will be renting, pick a place in any of the three areas that I mentioned and then spend some time looking around at houses.

Definitely good info there.

Also, the Chattanooga Rifle Club is near Ooltewah.

Yep, still trying to get into the club. There is also a free range at Prentice Cooper State Forest but it gets way to crowded on the weekends and there are some real idiots that shoot up there. During the week the PC range isn't bad.

Well guys I made it:

I've got a job over in East Ridge with is a pretty nice area I think. Seems like every rental that's worth it has been taken but for the mean time I found a place over in Rossville. It's in the boonies and relatively cheap, neighbors are roughly my age and working class like me. My internet is going to be down for a few days but I'll try and check back in tomorrow. If anyone wants to meet up in the area give me a buzz at 9 28 277-3790, I'll be changing my number next week hopefully.

Thanks again,

Jason

Hey Jason, where are you working in East Ridge? My ambulance service shares the 911 coverage there, so I'm out there a lot.
