So, now that GR is going to have TWO gun shows on the same weekend, who's going to the J&J Sport Shows one (the new one at the DeltaPlex), and who's going to the Sport Shows Promotions one (28th Street Showplace, formerly of the DeltaPlex)?
What are your reasons for picking the one you're going to? Will you go to both since there's two shows and two days?

Why wouldn't you go to both? That's my plan.

The way I see it, attending two mediocre shows in the same day may add up to one decent experience. If not, there's always Silver Bullet for dessert!

I'd consider going to both purely out of curiosity. I'd like to see who stays at the Deltaplex and who is at the new venue. Besides, there might be some new vendors present.

This is my rational. Then in the future I can hopefully pick one and stick with that one. It will be really interesting to see who actually shows up at either one. I don't think there are enough dealers to warrant 2 shows on the same weekend. If they were smart they would split the schedule's up.

Does each charge for both parking and admission?

I might actually be getting over to that side of the state in the run up to a wedding.

As far as I'm aware, they both only charge for admission:

$6 for the DeltaPlex show
$6 for the 28th Strret Showplace show, but they have a $1-off coupon (they also handed out $2 off flyers at their last DeltaPlex show).

Checking the calendars of both, it looks like the shows are on the same weekend for April, but then after that they are splitting apart. More gunshows can't be a bad thing.

I'm very jealous. It didn't take long for those tickets to sell out.

So I know you have to have them check any guns you're just carrying around, but what about your CCW gun? Check it, concealed is concealed, lock it in the car?

So this morning my oldest son and I head out to the New location show (i.e. 28th street location which is actually the show from the Delta Plex) but there was about 200 people outside waiting so I said we could not afford to wait in line as I needed to be back home and ready to go to my dad's for his birthday. Figured that the Delta Plex show must be pretty quiet since so many were at the 28th street show so we decided to hit the Deltaplex show (i.e. the new show). They changed the way to get in so you cannot see inside the show while waiting in line and I can now see this was their strategy because what a waste of a good 20 minutes. 20 minutes to walk the show with a 5 year old in hand, that's it, it was even more full retard than ever. I should just have waited in line at the 28th street show and chanced it. b

All the normal gun show losers and stereo types were back. About 1/4 of the tables that were there in the past and the back area closed off except for a path to the bathrooms. BB-guns are now on multiple tables on main aisles if you can even call them that. Aisles are 2-3 times as wide as they were before to spread things out. Must have saw 15 tables that had 1-4 shotguns on them to "spread out the wealth" and not make it look as small and pitiful as it was. Junk, junk, and more junk, my son wanted to know why people brought their garbage to the gun show and where all the guns were. Total waste of time and money.

We went to the 28th street to see if the line had gone down to the point we could get in quickly but unfortunately there were even more than 200 and I would say closer to 300 outside so thus we came home empty handed, 5 dollars less in out pockets and belly full with a McDonald's breakfast but time spent with son, priceless. We have decided to go to the 28th street location early tomorrow. It opens at 10am but if things are like they were today come early so you don't have that long to wait in line unless you like that kind of thing. Good Hunting, HORSE23 and little Colt5

Sounds exactly like my morning. I went to the Delta Plex show looking for Ruger SR9C, there was one dealer there that had one and his prices were all more than you could buy the guns for locally. Since they only had one room the place was packed. We went to the 28th street location and like you said the line was super long. What a waste of time.

The Delta Plex show was so bad they should have a drive up window to take your money and save you the time of waiting in line and walking in.

There was basically one dealer that had anything you might want to look at and there were so many people around that table it would have been hand to hand to get to the front and see if there was something priced worth buying.

Spent 45 min at the Delta Plex, seen the line on 28th and left! What happened to the days at the Delta Plex when they used the whole building!? The demand is there, where are the sellers?

28th street show is a FUBAR. the only way to get in is to be a table holder. Giving it another try on Sunday. Deltaplex was more like a flea market. Did pick up a few things. At least in April we'll have a table at 28th street showplace.

update: Finally made it in the door Sunday. Wall to wall people. Spent a few bucks. Best GR show in a long time.

I made it into the 28th st show. The long wait outside just gets you ready for the wait inside. If you could put up with the masses their was a fair mix of over priced, fair priced, and ok deals. Thanks for the heads up on the Delta plex I will be skipping that one.

Went to both shows today. The DeltaPlex show was a joke. I wont be wasting my time or money going there again. The 28th street show was very large but packed. I was in line outside for about 30 minutes. Once inside it was a battle to get to a table. The fire marshal would have had a field day. If you plan on going to the 28th street show tomorrow bring a can of air freshener. Apparently some people feel deodorant is optional.

Made it to the 28th street show today. Got there around noon, and while the line was out the door, thankfully, there were 2 lines which cut down on the wait. The girlfriend and I got in the shorter of the two and only ended up spending about 10-15 minutes waiting to get in. Once we were in that's where the fun really began. Obviously, most of the vendors there were familiar faces from the shows at the DeltaPlex, but there seemed to be quite a few new faces as well. Prices seemed pretty typical of the past shows at the Plex. While only a handful of the dealers appeared to be out to gouge people (with this being a new location), most seemed to be at or slightly below MSRP.

Unfortunately, the vendors were packed so tightly in there, there wasn't enough room to move up and down the aisles freely, even though there appeared to be more space available. With the people waiting to look at things on both sides of each aisle, there was only enough room to sidestep down the remaining space and hope no one else wanted to go the other way. And of course there were the obligatory a-holes with the two-seat, extra-wide strollers trying to plow their way through.

The only other MAJOR problem was the parking situation. Despite knowing that there was going to be a big show, and that it was supposed to snow last night, they failed to have the parking lot plowed and/or salted well enough to see the lines, so parking was pretty FUBAR. Hopefully by the time the next show here rolls around (not counting tomorrow obviously), we shouldn't have to worry about the snow anymore.

All in all, it was a decent show. They need to work on the layout a bit, either widen the aisles or figure out how to route people up and down them better... almost like one-way streets... up one aisle, down the next. Definitely need to have a no strollers policy. I understand spending time with the family and instilling a healthy attitude and respect towards guns at an early age, but there simply isn't the room in there for the strollers. While I'm not saying leave your kids and/or spouse at home, consider maybe using one of those baby backpacks/front-packs instead.

Went at 9:30 to the 28th St show and waited about 30 minutes in line. Inside was ridiculous. Organizer apologized and said that the aisles will be fixed for the next show. Apparently they were supposed to be wider. Guess the guy should have been more involved in setting up the place.

Was hard to even get to most tables.

Met the wife for a fundraiser lunch and then I took in the Act of Valor movie. Had thought about going over the to Deltaplex, but changed my mind. Got a text later from a buddy that said don't even bother with the Deltaplex at all. Glad I didn't.

I went to both and the Delta Plex was pretty sad. I guess if you are looking for a 1890's smoke pole that was the placeto be, or some random items that most people through away( for good reason, there junk). I did spend a far amount of time waiting in line for the 28th street and wasn't dissapointed. Tons of guns that I like to lok at. I was also glad to see a fare amount of new dealers. It was also nice to see a few of the local gun clubs supporting the show with their own booth. Over all I will stand in line again for the 28th, I will not waste my time or money with joke at the Delta Plex. Just my 2 cents.

I rode up with a friend and arrived at the 28th street show right before opening time. The line to get was just forming, and we were about ten feet from the door. While in line, I got into a conversation about AR's, and the subject of Arfcom came up before the guy recognized my hat with the BFL. Good-sized show, lots of stuff, and I got to meet WTS_Mike and talk about silencers. There were some spots in the floor layout that caused traffic buildups, but overall I didn't have much trouble navigating.

After a couple of hours there, we swung by the Deltaplex. While contemplating going in, a couple that was leaving told us it wasn't worth the money or 20 minutes walking through the building. We left, then drove down to Kzoo and visited On Target.

I'm glad to hear the 28th Street show was healthy. I was worried two shows would split vendors down the middle, making them both mediocre.
