Interesting purchases at fun shows lately?
I was just wondering if anyone has got anything at gun shows lately that fall into the interesting, rare or weird category? Anyone else share my penchant for the strange, weird, rare or exotic? My past two purchases...
COP .357 4 barrel derringer
Gen. 1 Glock 20 10mm

Check the chamber support on that glock, compare it to photos of current production 10mm chamber cutouts, and if it is deeper, be very careful / replace it with a current one.

Based on the KaBoom I had with mine, I'd recommend swapping it for a good aftermarket. I'm using a KKM.
I wasnt aware of this problem and I have been shooting glocks for years...this is my first non-9mm Glock though... So thanks for the heads up. I dont currently shoot reloads so is this really an issue? I did check the Glock 20, and yes, the support at the 6 oclock position on the factory barrel is much less then the custom barrel that also came with the gun....Its an extended and ported barrel....Fire Dragon barrel, ....made by EFK....Will this barrel be better then using the factory barrel which does have more "slop" to the round when it rests in the chamber? Although...the custom barrel isnt "super supported" either.... Any thoughts?

I still love the gun.
I still carry it daily.
DoubleTap exploded.
Winchester Silvertips caused significant case bulges, but not to the extent of the DoubleTaps.
I can't be sure of the primary fault. Probably the factory barrel. And the ammunition contributed.
I guess it could be said I was primarily at fault since I suspected a problem and pulled the trigger anyway.
Point is, inspect your barrel. Several good pictures of other barrels in the thread.

I thought about posting that... but isn't the first generation of any model considered it's "Gen 1"?
I know most people consider it's first life was a 2nd generation style.
Interesting story..thanks for sharing this with everyone. I put over 150k rds on the ground every year and you really never know for sure when something odd might occur. Good glasses matter!
Sorry...I am aware that there was no Gen 1 Glock 20....I fat fingered the button and meant to say Gen 2. No rail...No finger groves, but has the "checkering" on the front of the grip surface. Never thought I would care for a big bore Glock but damn, I love it. Ted Nugent would be proud!! I am currently shopping for a new barrel for it so it doesnt blow up on me... Question...I deer hunt regularly with my S&W 686 .357.....and was wondering about deer hunting with this 10mm....I know that the 10mm is legal for hunting deer in Iowa, but I was wondering about barrel length. I know the stock barrel is long enough...4+ inches, but what about my custom barrel. Iowa Law says in regards to hunting with a pistol..." No shoulder stock or long barrel modifications.....does this mean no extended barrels?

I asked the DNR that question several years ago. Took forever and several tries to get an answer. You will be fine with the barrel you are adding. This is meant for pistols like Contenders. They don't want someone adding a buttstock, which would be illegal anyway, or adding a rifle barrel to a pistol frame or both which would make it a rifle anyway.

If you are looking at a 6" barrel, you might consider the Lone Wolf 10mm long slide. It gives you more distance between sights, which equals better accuracy.
I keep meaning to "pull-the-trigger" on a setup like that, but just haven't gotten to it.
Thanks for the info ! I have been considering the Lone Wolf 6 inch barrels but also have really been looking at the KKM 6 inch ones as well. I have heard great things about KKM barrels....Are they as good as everyone says they are? Also considering putting an optic on this Glock 20....Maybe a FastFire or the like... It may just become my new deer slayer.

I've never heard anything bad about Lone Wolf barrels.
But KKM barrels have a longer history of being fantastic barrels.
For all I know, KKM makes barrels for Lone Wolf.
A 6 in G20 slide is on my short list of things to buy.
The only good find I have EVER had at a gun show was a like new in box with all paper work and warranty card 686-5 4" for $325
ETA My G20 with factory barrel has never fired a factory loaded round and never will
Fort Dodge gunshow about a month ago. Smith and Wesson 38 Hand Ejector Military and Police Model of 1902. Made in 1903. Mint condition. Possibly unfired or nearly so. Original hard rubber grips in perfect shape. Blueing is almost perfect, especially considering the age.
I collect Smith Model Tens. This is an early ancestor.
I forgot to mention what I bought before the Gen 2 Glock 20 and the COP 357... I found a beautiful Russian SKS...with all the fixins....STUNNING stock on it...$390 out the door....I collect Russian SKS's, and have several. Its a nice gun but the trigger sucks. Never done a trigger job on an SKS....how hard? any aftermarket triggers for these?

Isn't that kind of like putting a Hurst shifter on a Volkswagon beetle?

Thanks for the link...looks promising! And as for a Hurst shifter on a beetle...If it improves it...fuck yeah!! :)
