American Airlines Center?
Does anyone know if they are posted, or if they search your purse?
I was somewhat "handwanded" on my left side at the waist, last time I was there for a concert. Pretty halfass. Don't remember signs, but they could have been there.
What I remember reading over the years, it depends on the venue. I have seen wands but never witness metal detectors and think they just do a cursury check in your purse. It would be very easy to sneak something in.
I'm going there for a concert tonight. Not sure I want to be completely unarmed...

Several years ago I attended a non sporting event there, and the building was 30.06 posted.

Thank you.
From the AAC website:

refused entry if they are in possession of prohibited items including,
but not limited to: alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, food, drinks,
glass/plastic/metal containers, video recorders, audio recorders,

length, weapons of any type, baby seats or carriers, unauthorized noise
makers, glitter, confetti, Frisbees, streamers, helium balloons, beach
balls, parcels or packages, inflatables, brooms or large bags of any
kind. Cameras with lenses that are 4 or more inches in length are not
allowed except for Dallas Stars games. The guest must throw the
prohibited item in the trash or return the item to their vehicle.
American Airlines Center reserves the right to confiscate any prohibited
items and/or escort the guest from the building.
Last basketball game we attended they searched all ladies handbags and were randomly wanding people wearing baggy clothing. This was on Black Community Pride night.
I was there a couple of months ago to play on the ice (no games or other events occurring in the venue) and we had to go through metal detectors and have our hockey equipment searched. I spoke with one of the security guards and she told me you can bring in legal length knives even to a public sporting event.

Appears privately owned, even though public money was used.

They definitely search the purses and all handbags. Although, they seemed more interested in finding (and confiscating) the water bottles and kids' snacks to maximize their profits on their ridiculously overpriced food...

That was during Cirque du Soleil a few months ago.
Went to the circus a couple of years ago and there were no signs.
Being retired LEO I always carry but have never been wanded there, no signs posted and not sure who gets wanded or not

I am almost positive I saw no signs when going to the circus around the same time. Pretty sure I carried as well. I rarely venture into the box without a weapon.
Jester
I carried a cheap SOG knife in with me. They were wanding people, and to keep from being harassed, I just tossed it and went in. If I had known about them being ok with knives less than 5", I would have kept it.
Oh well, it was a cheap knife, less than $20.
The concert was awesome, BTW. Rammstein.

Was the place packed?

Not too bad, actually. I figured there'd be more people there.
