Any San Antonio members out there that can give me a little help here? Planning on taking the family to Sea World in the next couple of weeks and I need some advice on budget friendly hotels that are CLOSE AS POSSIBLE to Sea World. San Antonio traffic scares the shit out of me (even worse than Houston), and the less time I have to spend in it the better. Any suggestions?

Greetings Friend, I know there is the Fairfield Inn on Wiseman Blvd right down the road from SW, I work across the highway from there.

Not sure what your price range is, there is also La Quinta on 1604 near that area as well:

La Quinta Inn & Suites San Antonio Northwest
11155 West Loop 1604 North
San Antonio, TX 78254

Phone: 1-210-447-8000
Fax: 1-210-447-8040

Hope these options may help ya out, Rudy's BBQ is also across from SW so if you want some good BBQ, that's a nearby option for ya :)

I stayed on the riverwalk took me 15 to get to seaworld no problem. Hotel was a package deal with tickets to seaworld included. Did the math and worked out in my favor.

Until my girls outgrew SW we would stay at the Courtyard(Marriott)near SW, not the one across the street. It was cheaper. Get a Marriott reward card.
I prefer inside doors when traveling w/family!

Say hi to shame and don't sit in the splash zone unless you want to get really wet w/really cold sea water!

Last time we took the kids to SW, we stayed at Westin La Cantera. It's right across the street from the Six Flags and only about 10 minutes from Sea World. It's a resort-style hotel, mostly geared towards golfers, but there are things to do with kids, too. It was around $500 for 3 nights IIRC.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn about 5 miles away which offered a free shuttle that ran pretty much every hour.

All very good suggestions. The worst traffic is most likely on the same side of town as sea world these days, however if you stay West of IH10 and loop 1604, your commute is likely not going to be real bad.

If I were going to hotel/motel it I would likely stay in the area of Culebra and 1604.

Traffic in San Antonio is mild compared to most any major cities, especially Houston. Where do people get the idea that San Antonio has horrible traffic. Horrible drivers, well, that's a different question.

I don't pay too much attention to hotels, but just to keep you close to Sea World, try looking from I10 counter-clockwise to about 9:00 oclock on Loop 1604. Maybe something in Helotes at Hwy16/Bandera Road.

I stay on the riverwalk more so when seaworld closes at 6pm during off peak season; that way we can walk around the river in the evening.
