Watkins Glen International
Hello fellow NY HTF'ers.
I am on the Fire Rescue Team at Watkins Glen International
I'm posting here to see if any one else is interested in doing this.
Who we are:
Race Services Inc. A team that provides Fire Rescue, Race Medical, Flagging and Communications, Track Clean Up, Paddock control at the track.
What we do:
Fire Rescue, as it sounds, responding to accidents on track. Race Medical staffs grandstand EMS, on fire trucks, in pits, and infield care center. Flagging & Comm mans the flag stations around the track and is the eyes and ears of the track. Track Clean up mans trucks and cleans up after crashes, repairs guard rail, so on. Paddock directs teams to and from garage, onto pits, truly an up close aspect to the action and drivers.
Compensation:
There is no compensation. This is volunteer. Very clear, this is volunteer. You are able to camp at the track for free, receive a guest pass for spectator events.
It is hard to detail all the aspects here.
If interested at all, PM me.
This is a great fun time.
***Now the PSA. I am in no way compensated for this. Just hoping to find folks also interested in the sport. We have a great time, form great friendships, much like here. Spoke to Ed Sr and he feels this is an okay subject to openly post.***
I've worked the Glen on and off for years, back to when I was a teen and it was F1 racing.
Good times for those who like a good weekend of racing
You guys are the nuts!
Always fast on scene, quick clean up, and friendly as could be!
Thanks for dragging all my friends wrecked cars off the track!
PS you forgot to mention that you get to see BMWs, Porsches, and this week Ferarris all smashed up!
This was posted at my volunteer fire house but unfortunately I can not get out of the work from the paid fire house. Sounds like a great time.
abom, you are right. You can usually find me in the heel of the boot.
Guys, spread the word. We always need more people.
Best damn thing I've ever done!
We dont require much, a couple weekends a year, or every!
+++ to all the comments above.
I'm an SCCA racer and you folks do a great job !!
and are fun to meet at the post event get togethers.
Thank you for your efforts.
