6" 40s Popular Here TOO?
I just finished a 6" 40 today.
Seems to be a popular version.
It's a bit heavy at 40.5 OZ but we'll see how she handles soon.

You could remove some mass from the slide to get the weight around a 5" gun.

I built one a little over a year ago. It's fun to shoot. It's as light as I could make it. Back bored barrel even...
40.5 isn't bad at all. A 5" 1911 weighs in at 39 oz. (with no bull barrel, no full length dust cover, tungsten guide rods, etc.).
Looks like you took the weight off where it needs to be (on the slide) and kept it where it belongs (barrel and out front = dust cover).
I run a 5" BCG Pro Series for Limited and works for me, but the 6" guns are fun.

Wow, I didn't realize I was that close to a 1911 weight. I should do a little searching over on the BE Forum.
It has a bushing barrel and no tungsten anything.
I'm not sure what they weigh, but locally Howard Smith has done a popular 6" 2011 and it is really, really light.
Thanks,

Throw a bull barrel in there and if it's too heavy, flute the barrel.

Very nice, I like the slide cuts. Shoot it and see how you like it. FWIW my CZ Shadow for production is around 41oz.
Did You have to turn the barrel down or open up the slide to use an O-ring?
I've done that with Taurus 9mms before since there's a ton of slop but never to a 1911 style upper.

I put a small chamfer at the slide opening, that's it. The barrel lock up was pretty tight, but my "hacksaw" gun doesn't see many rounds through it so I did it to my Limited gun to test how long it would last and stay accurate. The Oring is set deep enough so that the slide doesn't have the chance to catch on it.
My Hacksaw gun had a pretty loose barrel fit (cut 5" down to 4.2") and with the O-ring I have shot 1.25" 5 shot groups at 25yards. You may be able to search the archives for Hacksaw 2011.
Hell, my SS is 41.8 oz. Nice gun !

CZ TS for Limited is 50+ oz.
Shot it today and it's good and reliable.
The ammo was not the best so it was a little flippy but I think I like it.
150 Grn JHP with Amerc Select.
When I get some loads chronoed up with 165s or 180s I think it'll be even better.

Glad yours works fine. Just got one about a week ago and tried it out with the atlanta arms ammo that is long loader since no place to really set up a loader and no time to do it. Won't run a mag without jamming.
Mag problem or gun problem?
Rich
My guess would be gun, does the same on every mag
What kind of problems??
Update on Mine. Down to 39.6OZ with some internal lightening.
I played around with the spring this weekend.
I think I have a 14lb in so I tried a 10. It worked but things aren't loose enough yet for that light a spring.
I ended up with a 12lb Progressive that I found in my pile o springs.
Shooting 165 plated with Amer Select at 1025fps.
Only 200 left that will be gone this weekend and then I have to buy some bullets. Probably 180s.
About 500 rds with no issues. So far the only problems are from some untuned SV tubes using my own design follower.
My Followers basically look like a Bolen type without the extra lip underneath the front and I made two batches to fit the STI springs or Bolen/Grams type springs.
The last couple rds get kind of tilted and sometimes won't feed and the follower pops out the top when empty with the SV 40 tubes.
They work just fine in all my 38 mags and STI 40 mags though. Saved a bunch of cash makin my own.
