How did everyone's work out with their assumed waist size? Order one size up or your actual size? I have come across people saying both.

Thanks

Order one size larger. You're going to be putting a bunch of gear, etc. on it and better to have the real estate and not need than need it and not have it.

I wear 34in pants. When I measured with a seamstress tape over the pants the way they instruct, I came up with 36in so ordered that. It works. But, I did notice a lot of the guys had a bit more overlap on the top belt (the stiff belt) and they said they ordered +2 sizes. I ordered a 38 on my next belt setup and it also works fine. To be honest, not a real big deal either way.

The only issue I could see if you are smaller than a 34in waist, and you get the 'extra' length, it may start to interfere with the equipment on the belt if your setup includes six mag pouches or three double mag pouches. Shooting prod with all equipment behind the hip, I put the overlap in front for the top belt and it is not an issue. If you shoot outside of prod and can have mag pouches and holster more to the front and spaced out along the belt, you may run out real estate if you have a large overlap.

Hit your local club on a league night and ask to try out a couple sizes. Most folks are very accommodating.

I'm a 36" waist and my CR belts are 38's - which is the same as my standard belt size (since standard belt sizes are normally +2 over your pant size).

A larger-than-needed size doesn't really provide any more "real estate", as it requires more overlap to fit, and nothing can be placed on the overlapping sections. It would actually reduce the amount of available belt in the worst case.

Ummm...as you put crap on the "length" of the belt decreases.

For adding things to the outside of the belt - no, it doesn't. OWB holsters and pouches do not add considerable thickness to the underside of the belt. IWB carriers do require extra length of belt, because they effectively increase your waist size. OWB carriers do not. And CR-Speed belts are competition belts, designed to be used with OWB gear, not IWB rigs.

Here are two of my rigs - a Production setup on a 38" belt, and a Limited setup on a 36" belt. These are sized down to the same waist size - approximately how they are set when I wear them.

Now, note that even though the Production belt has significantly more stuff on it, it still presents a much larger "unusable" section of overlapping belt.

My Limited rig is the only one to use a 36" belt - all others use 38". It's not because they provide me any more space for gear (because they don't), but rather that I feel that the greater overlap (which actually robs you of space for gear) provides a more secure hold overall, which adds to peace of mind when running around full-tilt with a belt of loaded mags.

Unusable to a pistol shooter. ;-)

But thanks for agreeing that you order a belt larger than your waist size. That's the whole point.
