OK, I'm starting a thread on the 6940. I got a call from my friend in the industry who is training this week, who told me that his 6940 came in.

Seriously.

I hope to have some pics when he returns and picks it up from his FFL. Figured I better start the thread now before all the hullabaloo.

Please post any serious discussion and actual pics in this thread.

There a few links on ar15.com. Most aren't worth reading.

Good call, EL

We will know for sure one week from today ––- know what I mean?

Oh I believe its here alright, just a matter of them trickling down to the unwashed masses.

The industry, Colt included, has blossomed over the past several months.

There are so many options and competitors, that in some ways there is a watered down excitement based on the shear volume of new products, and inventory coming online.

Ought to be interesting for us Colt enthusiasts for sure.

I'm pretty confident that it's semi-auto. . . .

Redfisher, have a good time at SHOT. Wish I could go. It's been years since I could make it to SHOT. . . . .

I have seen the VFG laser/running light, its angeled like the trigger grip, you can toggle between the laser and light. and I think its QR

It also has a trigger to activate the light/laser.

Have you heard if it will have that VLTOR stock on it like in those pics on DEFREV or just a plain M4 stock?

I dunno. My guess would be the M4 stock. I don't put a lot of confidence in DefRev's work. . .

My dealer called me today to tell me about the new "Colt MRP with flip-up sights" that he has on order. Needless to say, it turns out he was talking about the 6490.

Funny thing was, though, he said he had twelve on order, and had already taken the liberty of reserving one specifically for me, assuming, of course, that as a Colt freak, I'd most likely want one, otherwise, he could still just sell it on the floor. He said should be finding out some more about 'em at SHOT, and should have 'em not long afterwards.

if you do manage to get one secretly and without permission, remember to take the FA BCG out, so you dont get arrested as soon as you touch it

Don't know about that, I think it just means I spend way too much money there.

The VFG is from LaserMax and is discussed here. The Colt CGL-R/L retails for $399 and has an integrated red aiming laser and traveling light. The CGL-R/L attaches to the M1913 rail mount system. The laser has two modes: Hi-Vis pulsating mode; and continuous on.

Here's a pic from a thread elsewhere:

I work at a gun shop...I will put in my order for one with our various distributors tomorrow! Dealer cost on these is $1315.99.

I will more than likely sell off the CGL-R/L though.

Hopefully it won't take forever to get one!? I'll fondle it at SHOT on Friday for sure!

I'm a Colt fanatic like the rest of you, but I just don't see what all the excitement is about. I certainly think it's a step in the right direction, but I wouldn't pay a premium for it. Like most things, good things come to those who wait. In eight months to a year every Colt distributor in the country will be trying to unload these things.

Does anyone know what the rollmarks are on the lower? Are they the same as the 6920 or 6933?

ETA: Here is my 6940 clone ...or maybe Colt copied mine

Colt 6920 with LaRue 7.0 & PRI folding BUIS'.

Cheers

Wonder when/if the SBR versions are coming? 6941 and 6943? I remember the photos of the 1033 looked great!

Don't know for sure, but I'd imagine that they'll come with something similar to "ADVANCE LAW ENFORCEMENT CARBINE," that's what they were calling the 1020.

Put the bug in the ear of some of the shop's distributors today that if they get one in I'd like it! While I was at it, went ahead and told them to look out for one of the upcomng Colt 22lr M4's also...
