Best Regards,

That's one great rifle from SAW which I handled at the gun show in Phoenix last month. The quality work on the pinned flash hider was excellent, you could not tell and I had to be shown where it was pinned. The rifle came with the reliability package and the show price was1695.00.

I agree. SAW did a fantastic job on the flash hider. At first I thought they had sent me a regular 6944. I had to look very closely at the barrel to tell that it had an extended flash hider.

Is the barrel nut wrench available anywhere yet and is anybody making aftermarket barrels for these things yet?

I would like a 16" heavy contoured barrel for mine.

I have used that same tool for 6 barrels (inremoval and installs) without a hitch or have wear like the one shown in the picture. Just an FYI, the 6940 barrel extension is not like a regular barrel. I am sure everyone knows this but just to be on the safe side. If you scroll back a page you can see my extra barrel or go to the IAR page and there should be some detailed pics of when we dis-assembled one.

Has the 6940 Upper receiver ever been produced with the SOCOM barrel? Someone was showing me the upper today and claimed it had the SOCOM barrel. I was under the impression they all came with the M4 profile.

Haven't heard of one with a SOCOM barrel unless it was retrofitted, as far as Colt is concerned, only 300 civilian rifles should have SOCOM profile barrels.

A quick check under the HGs should confirm or deny it.

Who knows maybe they made another special run? Or he could just be mistaking the M4 carbine barrel for the SOCOM.

Thanks for the info. I may call up there during the week and see if I can talk to someone else about it. They wanted $1200 for the 6940 upper. Thought it was a little high.

Here's my 6940. I have FDE on for the summer now, waiting on an FDE stock & Noveske QD end plate that are on back order.

Generally speaking, no.

But hey you're in CT, so anything is possible.

Here's my first two AR's bought the (blk) one on 1/10 went to the range 2 days later & absolutely loved it & got bit bad. On my way home stopped by my LGS and
Ordered Another One. Came in 2days later & nice bonus was the S/N's where exactly 2000 apart last 3 digits are the same thought that was cool.
