Yeah out of my STG-556 and AR15, it's hotter and more accurate than PP M193. Pretty good stuff.

may be corrosive. I shot some of this stuff years ago even though it is marked non-corrosive the bolt was stuck closed and need a rubber hammer to get it opened. be aware the chicoms might not be sure what they make.

Is this the same stuff as the yellow box Norinco stuff?
I just picked up 29 boxes of it (marked China North Industries Corporation). If it is the same stuff, how much does our friend want for it? My headstamp only has the CJ, and a symbol that I cannot make out. No date stamp. |

Wow, people still have that Norinco ammo lying around? I shot up all mine years ago. Or is it illegal rounds smuggled in from Canada?

Its good stuff and seems to have less flash suppressant then others as it puts on a show when fired, ecspecially in F/A. Never did a accuracy check with it but it isnt corrosive, think mine is headstamped C J 93 I have 200 rnds left i would trade for M855/SS109?

Pretty good stuff. Full power, definitely nice plinking ammo. I bought a couple thousand rounds of yellow box back in 89 and still have several hundred left.
Brass seems a little brittle however. I have had a case seperation or two in .223 AKs, but never any such problem in the tighter chamber of an AR. I personally wouldn't reload on the norinco casings though. |

Buddy bought some Yellow Boxed .223 marked non corrsoisve i think (been a few years)...Unsure if the ammo got switched out becuase the box looked like it was opened a few times, but it rusted my buddies Mini14.
I like Chinese guns ALOT...But I never trusted claims of being non corrosive.. |

It shot very nice in my mini14, except one round was overloaded extreme, and destroyed the bolt end and extractor. Heard the louder bang, felt the extreme recoil and it did alot of damage . Dont trust it, pass on it, and be safe . It may never happen again but why chance it.

Hell, I've seen Federa lblow the extractor out of a G27. I've seen all kinds of malfunctions with M855 (not XM, the real stuff during my time in), and I can bet that every brand has had an issue. |

Your correct, any ammo can be a problem. I believe you just increase the odds of problems with junk ammo. I have had ammo blow primers and case ends, but never anything as over loaded as this ammo. Its never good to compromise on ammo to save a few bucks. I am just pointing out my experience with this ammo, and its not on the same quality level as some of the other cheaper ammo. Be careful and safe.

I've used a few thousand rounds of the Norinco yellow box. Always liked the stuff. Wasn't the most accurate or clean but not bad. Always functioned good for me. Still have about 500 rounds left I think.
Also got a couple of those 800 round tuna cans of 5.56 laying around that I bought in the 80s. Not sure what brand it is. Ahhh, those were the days when ammo was $70-$100 a 1000 and $450 ARs and $800 Galils were the norm. |

One thing to note: that brass is "variable" in quality, so once it's fired, RECYCLE it, don't try to reload it.
