THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Has any one tried this, It looks like it would not be to difficult to mill the v clamp they have on them a little larger to accommodate for the increased barrel Diameter then just use a Hand guard retainer on the front.

Just wondering or if any one had thoughts or concerns with trying to do this.

Thanks

I know that people HAVE done it, but I personally haven't. I've been looking into the same thing, though, and was hoping that someone who has done it would post some pictures of how much they had to dremel, and what the inside of the MI handguard looks like (because I haven't bought one yet).

Thanks

I installed a MI handguard on a 20" 5.45 which has the same heavy barrel diameter as the .308 of .670-.690 inches and did not need to modify it in any way. The V clamp is meant to accept many barrel diameters. If you use a MI handguard you don't need a handguard retainer either. I personally use the saiga handguard on my Saigas, which is a little longer to hide the slots for the handguard retainer.
